LUNA WHISPERS: CHAPTER 31

FREYA POV

We were talking among ourselves about different things after Kiran went after Lydia. I saw them going towards the garden, Lydia had a frustrated look on her face while Kiran had a little smile. Just one day of being near her and he was already smiling, I wonder what interested him about Lydia? Well, I wouldn't meddle in his business or in hers. But, a small part of me wondered what Lydia wasn't comfortable talking about earlier. After Kiran told me that she was crying, I was curious, but I would wait till she was comfortable before asking her. We just started our new friendship, it would be improper to meddle in her personal life this early into it.

"Freya, are you still with us?" Ralia said. I looked around and I saw everyone staring at me.
"Don't mind me, just lost in my thoughts." I said.
"Are you sure?" She asked again. Who would have thought there would be a day when Ralia and I would be good friends. When she would worry about me so much.
"You worry too much Ralia. I'm fine." I said and touched her hand.
Okay then. Do you think Kiran is comfortable with us?"
"He just came today, it might take sometime for him to adjust more, but he seems to feel comfortable here from what I've seen." I said to her.
"He seems comfortable with Lydia." She said smiling.
"It's not like that. He's just curious about something, maybe he's getting his answers." I said smiling back at her.
"Let's talk about something else, when are you planning on having the wedding?" I asked. Ralia and Darren looked at each other.
"We were thinking about it and we decided that we would have it, after the whole thing with Kye is over." She said. I frowned a little at that.

"Are you sure about this decision?" I asked her. She nodded her head, I hate that all this is preventing her from having her wedding day sooner. It upset me a bit.
"Do not look sad, we are happy with the decision we made. We don't want any unexpected surprises. It's better this way." She said.
"Alright." I responded to her. I glanced towards the garden where Lydia and Kiran were talking and I let out a small smile, I hope this is the start of a good friendship. I'm happy he seemed comfortable with her. All that time spent mostly isolated must not have been nice. I looked away from them and continued talking with the others.

KIRAN POV

We both sat at what I presumed was a garden. It looked well taken care of and pristine. Lydia kept looking at the ground, holding her dress tightly and keeping quite a distance from me.
"You know if we're going to talk you have to at least look at me." I said. She looked up at me, her eyes shining in the dark.
"So the last time, you were about to tell me something other than your name and your work here." I said.
"I thought I gave you a reply when I said that there's nothing much to know." She said.
"That is a lie." I said and she glanced away from me.
"Okay, how about we do this instead. We can both ask each other questions about ourselves. That way it seems fair, is that okay with you?" I asked.
"Yes." She said. I sat up straight, I decided to start with an easy question.

"What are your hobbies?" I asked.
"I love to read and cook." She said.
"That sounds nice, I would love to have a taste of your food one of these days." I said to her.
"If you keep up a good behaviour, you might." She said and smiled, then went back to frowning. Like the smile was a mistake.
"What are yours?" She asked.
"Truthfully, I didn't have much time for hobbies, I was always on my own. I never really talked to much people." I said. She looked at me curious.
"Why is that?" She asked.
"I assumed everyone would know by now." I said.
"I don't really listen to gossip." She said and I smiled.

"I'm from the human world." I said
"I know that part." She said.
"Well, what you don't know is that, since I was boy I've had these powers. Powers that humans found dangerous. A threat. They tagged me a witch boy. My own parents sent me away, hated the sight of me. Until I met Annalyse." I said.
"Do you mean Freya?" She said.
"Yes, she took me in, treated me like family. Even if she kept me secret from her parents. She was the only friend I had." I turned to look at Annalyse. She was hugging Ace, both of them smiling at each other. Lydia moved closer to me. But there was still a bit of distance between us.
"Until one day, I didn't see her again. She never came back." I said.
"That must have been around the time, rogue Kye attacked them." She said. I nodded.

"The villagers accused me of killing them when they found me in the house. They wanted me dead. But I was rescued by a woman named Helen and her husband, the village prosecutor. They made it look like I was dead. The villagers did not suspect a thing. Ever since then I've been isolated my whole life. That is until now." I said. She looked at me. Probably shocked I told her all that. Someone I just met today. I was shocked at myself as well. She looked at me with pity.

"Do not look at me like that." I said
"Like what?" She said.
"Pity, I hate it." I told her.
"I admire you, more than I pity you actually." She said. She kept quiet for a while, probably contemplating if she should ask me something.
"Can you show me?" She asked.
"Show you what?" I said.
"Your powers." She said.
"Come with me." I told her. She hesitated before she took my hand, I led her further into the garden.

"Close your eyes." I told her. She didn't do it.
"I won't hurt you, I promise." I whispered. A few seconds passed and then she closed them. I conjured a fire ball. I spread them into different tiny sparks. They were like fireflies dancing around the sky.
"Open them." I said and she did. Her mouth opened at the warmth she felt, the beauty of it all. She smiled and looked at me.
"How can fire be this beautiful." She said and laughed.
"It's amazing." She said. She touched one.
"They'll burn you." I said.
"It's just a little burn." She said and looked at me, she reached her hand towards my shoulder but she pulled back.

"You're not a monster. You know that right?" She said.
"Yes, I do. It's nice to get reassurance though." I said.
"I hope one day, You'll be comfortable to tell me your story as well." I said.
"I should get going." she responded. I nodded my head but when she left I heard her say a faint.
"Me too." And then I smiled.

I went back to Annalyse and her friends, I sat down apologizing for leaving abruptly.
"It's alright. I hope you enjoyed your conversation with Lydia." Ralia said with a smile.
"I did. I didn't quite answer your question Darren." I said.
"We've still got a lot of time." Darren said. We talked all evening. They were nice people. All of them. After laughing and talking with each other, we all went to bed.

KYE POV
I spent all night reading and researching everything concerning the mysterious fire man. I couldn't find anything yet. Maybe I wasn't searching in the right places, I need to dig a little more deeper. I called one of the rogue maids into the library.
"Do we still have those archived materials?" I asked her.
"They must be in here somewhere, I'll look for them." She said and I nodded not sparing her a glance. She came back with the materials and dropped them on the table.

"Look over them with me, I need another set of eyes. You can read right?" I asked her. She looked offended but when she saw my glare she responded.
"Yes, I can." She said.
"Then sit down, look for anything regarding fire breathing creatures. Specifically humans." I said. I started to search the books from the archives. After a few hours, I was exhausted, I wanted to go to sleep when the maid called out.

"I found something." She said. My eyes instantly opened as she passed me the book.
"Fire hunters." I read out. It said that they have been In existence for a long time. But they went extinct. This means that the man must have been one of the last of them remaining. If not the last. I searched for weaknesses.
"A fire hunter cannot be killed easily but if one wishes to weaken them, targeting the scars on their back would be the best option, It immobilizes them for some time." I read out. If we were able to get close enough to him to hurt his back then it would help us in the battle. I was happy about this discovery, it was a breakthrough at least. The maid was still standing there.

"You can go now." I said to her. She hesitated.
"What do you want?" I said to her and she came towards me.
"You look tense. I can help you relax, just like the last time." She said and put her hand on my shoulder.
"The last time?" I said. Genuinely not remembering what she meant by the last time. She frowned a bit.
"You don't remember me?" She asked. I looked at her face closely, then I remembered she was the one I almost slept with that night Thea was attacked and the one who told me about her betrayal.
"Oh, you." I said. I pulled her away from me.
"I don't need your help relaxing, You can go back now. Your help was highly appreciated." I said. She balled her hands into fists. I pretended not to notice when I turned my back on her. She left after a few minutes of realizing I was not going to talk to her for another second.

I would never love any woman except Thea and I would never want anyone as well, she has destroyed me for other women entirely. That is how much I loved her. I let her slip from my fingers in the human world but that will not happen again and I will make sure of it. I went to bed and had my rest. Happy with the fact that I was another step closer to getting my revenge.

FREYA POV

I went to tend the gardens with Isabelle the next morning. We were attending to the flowers when I saw Kiran. His legs were crossed and he looked like he was trying to concentrate. I decided not to disturb him, I didn't want to disrupt the process. I saw Ralia heading towards me, She looked quite disturbed. She stopped in front of me. She was hardly breathing.
"I need your help, it's a huge emergency." She said. I frowned.

"What is wrong?" I said.
"Come with me." She said, she dragged me towards her chambers. When we entered her room. She shut the door.
"What is the matter Ralia. You're worrying me." I said
"What colour do you think my wedding gown should be. I was thinking more of a brighter white, one that would blind people when they look at it. But then I saw the less brighter one and had a perfect design for it that would outshine the brighter one and now I'm confused." She said quickly. I stared at her shocked.
"This was the emergency?" I said to her and laughed.
"Okay, maybe it was not that big of one." She said and sighed.
"I've just been so stressed with the preparations. I just want it to be perfect." She said. I sat down next to her and hugged her.
"Take things slow Ralia. It will be perfect and I'm here to help, don't hesitate to ask me if you need help." I said to her.
"I don't want to bother you. You already have so much to worry about." She said.
"You are always there for me Ralia, nothing comes before friendship." I said to her and then she smiled.
"Now stop stressing over this for now and relax." I said.
"I can't believe that I'm getting married." She said and laid down on the bed.
"It is the happiest feeling isn't it? Getting married to the one you love." I said.

"I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with him." She said, a dreamy look in her eyes.
"To have children." She said, she looked at me, frowning.
"I didn't mean to say that." She said.
"What?" I asked her.
"Children." She said. Was she concerned about what my reaction would be. I don't have a problem with what she said. I have forgotten that part of my life and I am ready to move on.
"It's alright Ralia. I don't think of that anymore. So don't be scared to talk about children in front of me, I will have another. Just because I lost one does not mean I will dwell on it." I said. She hugged me once more.
"Everything will be okay Freya." She said and kissed my cheek.
"Yes, it will." I said and we remained like that for a while.

ACE POV

We were at the weaponry shed with Jacob. When I say we, I mean Kiran and I. Jacob was finally done with his latest contraption and Kiran was essential for it to work.
"So what is this all about?" I asked Jacob. He looked excited about the fact that he would get to talk about it.
"So basically for the cannon to work it needs fire power and that is where our new friend comes in." He said.
"You want me to shoot fire into it." Kiran said.
"Yes, yes I do." Jacob said. Grinning from ear to ear. He was really excited about this.
"Let's take it for a test run then. Are you prepared for that?" Jacob asked Kiran.
"Yes." Kiran responded. We took the cannon to the deepest part of the garden. Making sure to stay away from Freya's flowers. If anything were to happen to them. She would kill me.

"This is a good spot, just step behind it. Like this." Jacob said directing Kiran.
"Move back Ace." He told me and I did so gladly.
"Now, release the fire." Jacob said. Kiran's hands began to glow into a massive fire ball, he put it in the cannon and then it out with a loud and explosive noise. Jacob let out a loud shout.
"Did you see that?" He said shaking me excitedly.
'Yes, it was quite explosive." I said smiling at how excited he was. Kiran turned to look at me.
"Good Job" I said. He nodded.
"I have one more thing to show you." He said dragging the two of us along with him.

LYDIA POV

"No, stop... leave me alone." I said.
"No one told you to come to the woods this late girl." One of the men said.
"You were asking for it when you smiled at us." Another said.
"Now stay put and be a good girl and we'll be gentle with you. Unless you like it rough." They laughed.
"No, no." I said
"Lydia.. Lydia." I heard.
I shot up from the bed. My body drenched in sweat and a maid standing over me.
"Are you okay?" The girl asked.
"I'm fine." I said. Hiding my face from her.
"Alright, someone is looking for you. He came all the way down here for you." She said giggling.
"Who?" I said
"Come out and see." She said and left. I stood up from the bed, cleaning my sweat. I breathed in. Holding the tear drops that tried to escape my eyes, I went out of the room and I saw him.
"Goodevening." Kiran said.
"Do you need anything? You should have just sent for me instead of coming down here." I said.
"I don't need anything. I just wanted to know how you were doing?" He said.
"I'm fine. Why do you care so much?" I asked him. I really wanted to know. What interested him about me? He hesitated, instead of giving me an answer, he asked me a question.

"Do you need a friend?" He asked.
"A friend?" I responded.
"Okay, let me rephrase. I would like to be your friend if you would let me." He said.
"Why?" I asked.
"Because I need one and I can tell you do to. Even if you don't say it ." He said to me.
"So, can I?" He asked again.
Before I could respond. I heard a voice behind me.
"Lydia!" She said.
Oh no…
