LUNA WHISPERS: CHAPTER 30
FREYA POV
We arrived at the pack safely and, thankfully without any hindrance in the way. Honestly, a small part of me will miss the human world because of Helen. But I won't miss it because of Tyra. I can't believe she sold me out like that. I can't believe I even trusted her. I'm happy we're out of there safely and I'm happy we have Kiran. I can't wait to rekindle the friendship we have. After I received those lost memories yesterday, I realized that if I had remembered him all the while that I was in the pack, I would have looked for him long before now. I missed him. We arrived at the pack and we were let inside. The pack warriors bowed as we entered.
"Tell them we're back." Ace said authoritatively. Kiran looked around him, probably trying to assess the environment he was in. I'm sure it wasn't what he was used to in the human world. Well, things were about to get very different for him. I touched his shoulder and asked him,
"Are you okay?"
"I'm fine, Annalyse. I don't know if I should call you that, since everyone seems to call you something different." He said. I hugged him.
"I'll always be your Annalyse. Don't stop calling me that." I said to him. I pulled away.
"Do you like the environment so far?" I asked him. He smiled a bit.
"It is good to be in a place where I don't feel different, so it's a welcome change. Whether I like it or not is yet to be decided." He said. I liked his honesty.
"I'm sure you'll love it, especially when you meet everyone. If you need anything, just tell Ace and I." I said and gave him a broad smile.
"Freya, Ace." I heard Ralia say while running up to me. She gave us a big hug and then turned to squeeze me tightly.
"I'm losing breath from that." I said and she released me and then gave me a wide smile.
"I missed you so much, I have so much to tell you." She said happily.
"I can't wait to hear them all." I said. Darren came down and gave Ace a firm handshake.
"I would have killed you, if you didn't come back safely." He said to Ace.
"Then I would already be dead." He said and they both laugh. My mother, Isis, Isabelle and Neveah all came down to greet us. Yuri as well. I cleared my throat to get their attention.
"I want you to meet someone." I said and pulled Kiran towards me. It was obvious he was trying to hide from the crowd.
"This is my very good friend who has agreed to help us in this misson. His name is Kiran." I said. They all looked at him. Ralia, always the best in a welcoming party, came forward eagerly.
"You're quite handsome. It's nice to meet you." She said smiling. Kiran's tense shoulders relaxed a bit.
"Nice to meet you as well. You are quite beautiful too." He said and kissed the back of her hand.
"My goodness, your eyes! Careful, Darren. Kiran here is already stealing my heart." Ralia said and we all laughed.
"That isn't possible because your heart already belongs to me. Should we tell everyone the news?" He said pulling Ralia close to him.
"What news?" I wondered.
Ralia and Darren looked at each. Nothing but love in their eyes.
"We're getting married." They said. I gasped. Ace looked extremely happy.
"Congratulations! It is already a blessed union." I said hugging both of them.
"I cannot wait for it already." I said.
"It will be here sooner than you think." Darren said. Mother stepped up and hugged Kiran.
"Welcome to the family, son." She said and smiled warmly at him. He smiled back at her. They all greeted Kiran. Isis nodded at him and she left. I walked towards him.
"Come with me. I will show you to your room and also assign a maid for you." I said. He scrunched his nose.
"I don't need a maid." He said. I glared at him.
"Don't argue with me. I want you to be well taken care of. Do it for me." I said.
"Fine" He replied.
I showed him to his room and asked Isabelle to call a specific maid for me, someone who I knew was very competent even if we don't get along. She knocked on the door.
"Come in." I said to her. Lydia entered the room.
"You called for me, Luna." She said respectfully, I'm sure if I wasn't in this position. She wouldn't care about me.
"I have a special guest that I want you to take care of. He's very special to me. So make sure he is comfortable. I know you're good for the job. That's why I called you." I said.
"Yes, Luna." She said.
"You may leave." I said but she stood there.
"Freya. I'm sorry." She said and I turned to her. To know whether it was really her that said that. Lydia never says sorry.
"What did you say?" I asked her.
"I said I'm sorry, for everything. For being mean to you, for treating you badly. You didn't deserve any of that." She said crying. I came close to her and held her shoulder.
"Why are you crying?" I said, concerned.
"I just feel like such an awful person. I should have been your friend. I should have been nicer to you. Since we're both Omega's, I should have supported you. Instead I treated you like trash and I'm sorry." She said.
"Please, forgive me." She said.
"Why are you apologizing now?" I asked her. She held my hand.
"I've realized a lot of things these past few weeks. A lot has happened to me. I'm not comfortable with saying it now. Maybe one day." She said and I nodded.
"But I realized that, why be cruel, when you can be kind? Why not make connections with people, real long lasting connections, real friendships? So you'll know you're loved rather than hated. I don't want that. That's why I'm righting all my wrongs now. I want things to be better between us. I want to be your friend if you would let me." She said.
I smiled at her and I knew my answer. Maybe it was time for us to bury the hatchet.
"I would love that." I said and we both hugged it out.
"I'll go now. Let me start the task you have given me. Thank you for your forgiveness."
I nodded.
"I trust you know his room?" I asked.
"Yes. The maids won't stop gossiping. It's exhausting." She said.
"I never thought I would see a day where you hated gossips." I said and laughed.
"A lot had changed about me. I'm excited for you to see this part of me." She said.
"I'm excited as well." I said and she left.
THIRD POV
Lydia walked towards Kiran's room to start the task that Freya gave her. She's happy she was able to ask for Freya's forgiveness. That dreadful night had taught her a lot of things. A night she'll never forget. She still had dreams of that night; her body on the ground, her dress muddy, her clothes torn, after those men had their way with her and left her there in the cold night. A night she never told anyone about. She closed her eyes, clearing the memory from her brain. That night helped her realize a lot of things. She would forget about it now. She had something important to do. She knocked on the door of Kiran's room. Nobody responded. She knocked again and still no response. She opened the door and stepped inside to find it empty.
"Is anyone here?" She called. Just incase he was somewhere else. Maybe taking a bath. She stepped further inside and inspected the place. She saw some ashes on his bed. She bent down to touch them, when she heard a voice directly behind her. Whispering in her ear.
"What are you doing here?" He said. She turned abruptly, startled by his entrance. His face was inches away from hers. Her breath seized for a moment. His eyes. They were so golden. They were like the sun.
"Are you dumb or deaf?" He said quite rudely. She was snapped from her trance. When she saw how close he was, she moved away abruptly. It brought uncomfortable memories back to her. He raised his eyebrow at how quick she moved.
"I am neither. Freya sent me, I'm your new personal maid. My name is Lydia. And if you don't mind, I also require some respect from you. You sounded rude earlier." She said and looked up at him. He noticed her eyes. Grey. It looked like the moon. Her hair was midnight black like the night sky. She was beautiful. He hasn't seen much women apart from Helen. So he can't be blamed for noticing. She also had a sharp tounge. He could tell that she wasn't afraid to stand up for herself. He liked that. But he was not going to apologize. Her mouth was open and he didn't think she heard him when he asked her the question. So one would assume that she was deaf and dumb.
"Do you need me to do anything for you?" She asked wanting to get away from him. She was hating this man already.
"I don't really know. I'm used to taking care of myself." He said, stepping away from her.
"What are the things you're supposed to do for me?" He asked, genuinely confused.
"Well. I can dress you, bathe you..." Kiran cut her off with a finger. He was really rude, wasn't he? she thought. He smirked a bit.
"Stick to things that don't involve you roaming your hands all over my body. Although I'm pretty sure you'd love that." He said, his eyes boring into hers. Lydia didn't know what to say, she was speechless. He rendered her speechless, especially with that stupid smile of his.
"I...! I wasn't finished talking yet. I make your food, clean your room. Anything that you want." She said bending her head slightly.
"Can you offer me conversation?" He said. She looked at him. That's what he wanted? To talk?
"I can." She said. He wanted to know more about her. For some reason, He just didn't want her to leave yet and he didn't know why. He sat down on the bed and asked her to sit beside him. Lydia sat down but she kept her distance.
"Tell me about yourself." He asked her. Why did he want to know?
"I'm Lydia. A maid." She said and he looked like he was waiting for her to say more.
"Is that all?" He said.
"There's really nothing to know about me." She said and she stood up.
"I would like to take my leave now. I have other things to do if I'm of no use to you now." She said and stood up.
"Wait." Kiran said holding her hand. She pulled her hand away from his abruptly and looked at him in fear.
"Are you okay?" He asked truly concerned for her. He sensed something was wrong. He wanted to know. He wanted to help her.
"I'm fine." She said, looking away from him and running away from the room before Kiran could say anything.
Lydia ran outside to receive some air. That was too much for her. It was too much! She was crying now. Her mind started spinning with memories. She held her hair tightly, trying to stop them. She felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned around and it was him again.
"What do you want? Do you need anything?" She said slightly irritated and tears streaming down her face.
"Are you sure you're fine?" Kiran asked.
"I'm fine. Just leave me alone. If you don't need anything, leave me alone." She said. Kiran looked at her. He could tell she was keeping something, something very disturbing and it was burning her slowly. But he would stay away, for now.
"Okay, I'm sorry. If I need anything, I'll tell you." He said and walked away. He made it a second mission to uncover the mystery of Lydia. Lydia left for her room so no one else would see her.
KYE POV
I returned to the rogue territory angry that I hadn't accomplished my mission. I was angry that I didn't get Thea back. What marvelled me the most was that man they were with. He was powerful. I've never seen something so monstrous in my entire life. I needed to find out what he was and for that to happen, I needed to study him. I called one of the rogue maids and told her to get the study clean for me. I was going to research on his kind, find out about things closely related to him. I was going to make sure that I left no stone unturned. Looks like I have to wait a bit before I attack.
FREYA POV
I wanted to have a little party for Kiran. I wanted him to get to know everybody better and get comfortable with them. Ace thought it was a good idea. He had to learn how to open up more. I understood him but I wanted him to be freer with everyone and learn how to trust as well. Everyone was already outside,
I went to Kiran's room to find him. I opened the door. He looked like he was deep in thought. I wonder what he was thinking about.
"Kiran?" I called out to him. He looked up at me and gave me a smile. I sat down next to him.
"Are you okay? You seemed deep in thought." I said to him. He turned to me.
"The maid, you sent for me today." He said.
"Lydia?" I asked.
"Yes. Are you close to her?" He asked.
"Not really. Truthfully we didn't get along before but we're forming a friendship now which I am quite thankful for. Is there a problem? Do you not like her?" I asked.
"No, I like her." He said and I smiled knowingly.
"Not like that." He said defensively. I laughed and he poked me.
"Why are you asking about her then?" I asked. He turned to me.
"I sense that something is wrong with her. She was crying." He said. I remembered Lydia saying something to me earlier today about not being comfortable with telling me something yet.
"You know what? I do as well. But I think she'll talk when she wants to tell us." I said to him. He looked worried. Genuinely worried. I decided to change the topic to something lighter.
"So, we're having a little party for you. Everyone is already outside. I thought it would help you feel more comfortable about being here. Are you okay with it?" I asked him. He gave me a nod and smiled at me.
We went outside together and everyone was already gathered there. We sat down. Everyone had smiles on their faces and they were very welcoming.
"So tell us about yourself, Kiran." Darren said. Kiran was about to talk but something caught his attention. I followed his eyes to see what they were looking at and I saw them trained directly at Lydia. They were following her movements.
"Lydia!" He shouted. Lydia turned to look at all of us.
"Come join us." He said. Lydia's eyes widened. She answered him.
"I'm really busy. Thank you for the offer though." She said, walking away. Kiran stood up.
"Excuse me for a minute." He said not looking at us and he left.
"Do you think he likes her?" Ace whispered.
"I'm leaning towards that." I said and smiled at him.
KIRAN POV
I saw her walking away. She was waking really fast but I caught up with her. I still didn't know why I was so interested in her. Something was just drawing me to her.
"Wait. Why are you in such a hurry?" I said.
"I'm busy. You should go back." She said.
"No, I never really finished getting to know you." I said and she looked frustrated.
"Tomorrow." She said about to walk away.
"Well, I need you now and you said that you'll be here for anything I need as my maid." I said. She turned around.
"Let's just talk. I promise I won't make you feel uncomfortable in anyway and maybe give you a better impression of me." I said. I don't know why but I cared about what she thought of me. She sighed.
"Okay. Don't make me regret it " She said.
"You won't." I said and then I led her somewhere quiet.
