LUNA WHISPERS: CHAPTER 29

 

FREYA POV

We followed Helen as she directed us to where the witch boy was. Well, he isn't much of a boy but a man now. I wonder what he looked like. She took us to a deep part of the forest, there was a waterfall there, it was serene, the type of place you would go to when you want a moment of peace. 

"He usually comes here to meditate. The type of power he has needs a lot of concentration." She said.

"How long has he been staying at the cottage?" I asked. 

"He's been staying there since I rescued him from death. My husband was the town prosecutor." She said.

"Where is he now?" I asked her.

"He is dead. But he lived a full life." She said and I smiled.

"I'm sure he did." I said. She touched my shoulder and went back to what she was telling us.

"My husband and I couldn't believe that he did it. It just didn't seem possible. There was no trace of blood. No evidence that anything ever happened and he was so young, he was about your age then. He wouldn't have done it. But the villagers didn't care, as soon as they saw what he could do, they wanted to kill him. My husband covered it up and lied that he was dead. Since then we've hidden him in the cottage and he's always come here every single time. I don't know why but it seems to give him some peace of mind." She said.

We got closer, when we neared the waterfall, we saw a man with his legs crossed, the scars on his back that I saw in my visions was still there. It didn't look like he noticed us. Ace and I looked at each other before looking at him.

"Helen, I know that's you. Don't worry I'm not going to run, I've not done that in years and I won't do it now." He said. His voice was quite deep.

"I know that Kiran, I'm here with someone I'm sure you'll like to meet." She said to him. He stood up and turned around. His eyes were like fire, they were golden in colour. I've never seen such eyes before, they looked angry. His eyes turned to Helen before looking directly at me. He eyes softened, he started coming closer to me, Ace stepped In front of me protectively. I held him back.

"He won't harm me." I whispered to him. Paying him no mind Kiran stepped in front of me, he raised his hand and touched my cheek.

"It's not possible, you died." He said.

"I didn't die. I survived." I said to him.

"I thought I had lost you, Annalyse." He said, one drop of tears falling from him eyes and then another. We're we that important to each other.

"I'm sorry that I don't remember much about you. I only have memories of my family and so little about you." I said to him. He seemed hurt but his eyes lit up.

"I could show you." He said. I wanted to know, for some reason, I wanted to know how my friendship with him went. I feel such a strong bond towards him.

"I want to know." I said to him and he smiled, so brightly. I didn't think he could smile like that. Even Helen looked surprised.

"Hold my hand and breathe deeply." He said and I did just that. I was instantly transported to a place filled with memories. 

10 years ago

I was in my room and it was night. Mother had just finished preparing dinner for us and father was with me telling me stories.

"Dinner is ready you two. Come down before it gets cold." We heard her say. I turned to my father and frowned a bit. I didn't want story time to end so fast. 

"Come on little lamb, let us go eat." He said and kissed my forehead. We went downstairs and mother smiled at us.

"I was wondering what was taking so long." She said, hugged father and kissed him.

"Mama!" I said closing my eyes. They both laughed and we had dinner together. 

Later at night in my room, I heard a sound outside. I stood up from my bed, stepped out from it and  opened the door downstairs, I saw a boy with scars on his back. I helped him up and took him to the basement, I laid a blanket for him to sleep on and I promised to come back tomorrow to see him. The next day, I went down the basement, the boy was still there. He looked away from me, probably scared.

"You don't have to be afraid of me." I said. I came closer to him and knelt down in front of him.

"I will not harm you." I said as I held his hand. He turned to look at me and his eyes were unlike anything that I have ever seen before. They were beautiful.

"Your eyes are lovely." I said and smiled. He looked surprised, like he didn't expect me to say that. Like he expected me to be afraid of him and his scars.

"My name is Annalyse. What is yours?" I said to him. He took a while before he responded.

"Kiran" He said.

"Can we be friends Kiran?" I asked.

"Yes, we can." He responded.

Ever since then, I would visit him everyday. Mother and father were not aware of him. I didn't want them to send him away. He showed me his abilities, we would do everything together when we saw each other. I showed him the waterfall. At night we would disappear there for a while and sneak back into the house. We both became special to each other. Until my birthday, he didn't see me, day came but I never returned. He came out of the basement to see a lonely house. 

He came outside of the house, but it was the worst mistake. Someone saw him, his eyes, his scars and the people he was running from found him. They ordered his death, saying he had killed my family. So much pain was inflicted on him. But he was saved and his survival kept a secret.

He spent every day thinking of me, of what could have happened. And he spent every year, waiting for me at the waterfall. 

PRESENT

I opened my eyes instantly and he looked at me concerned. I was overcome with so much emotions. 

"Kiran. I remember you." I said crying. I hugged him tightly. He hugged me back.

"I'm so happy you're here. I have missed you terribly." He said. I looked at him and smiled.

"I would never have wanted to be separated from you. I have so much to tell you." I said to him. I looked at Ace and I smiled at him.

"I want to introduce you to someone." I brought him closer to Ace.

"This is my husband." I said to him and Ace smiled largely. 

"It is nice to meet you, Even though I haven't known much about you. This is an opportunity to know you more." Ace said. He turned to Ace.

"As long as you've been taking good care of her. I have no problem with you." He said to Ace sternly. I understand, he wasn't comfortable with him yet. He turned to me and smiled.

"You do have a lot to tell me, don't you?" He said.

"Yes, I do. We have a lot to talk about. Let us find a place to sit. It is quite a long story." I said and he nodded.

"I have wanted nothing but to hear your voice again. Now that I have my wish. I don't have a problem with you talking my ears off." He said.

"Then we should find a place to talk. I would like to speak to him alone." I said. Ace nodded knowing exactly why I wanted that. It wasn't that I didn't trust Helen. I just didn't want to drag her into all this mess. 

We went to a quiet place to talk and I told him all about everything that had happened, from what happened that night, to everything about werewolves, to my revenge mission. He looked angry. His eyes blazing like a strong unquenchable fire.

"This is why I need your help. I'm sure my visions reunited us for a reason and this is that reason." I said to him. He held my hands.

"I will fight for you and alongside you, even if it means my death Annalyse." He said.

"Do not talk that way. We are not going to die. We will be victorious." I said to him. He looked at me and smiled sadly, like he wanted to ask me something.

"I feel you have a question lingering on your lips." I said.

"No it's just. I am happy you found love, even though I'm a bit sad because I had felt strongly for you from the moment you asked for my name." He said sadly. I looked at him a bit sad that I could not reciprocate his feelings. Maybe if things were different, but I would never change anything. I would never change meeting Ace and loving him. He held my hand.

"It is clear we weren't meant to be in that manner, rather we were meant to fight side by side. I am truly happy for you Annalyse. But if he does not treat you right I will kill him." He said and I could see that he was serious but for some reason it made me laugh.

"I'm sorry, you just look so serious." I said and he laughed with me. I held his hand.

"You have nothing to worry about. He treats me like a goddess, you should be worried about me hurting him." I said.

"Then he sounds like a good man and I cannot wait to know him more." He said and I hugged him. Ace came to meet us.

"Freya. We have to prepare to leave now." He said to me. I let go of Kiran and I nodded towards him.

"Of course, let us go." I said to both of them. We met Helen at the waterfall. I went close to her and I hugged her.

"Thank you for everything Helen. But this is where our journey with you ends. I do not want to bring anymore danger to you." I said to her. She nodded her head and touched my cheek.

"I am happy that I got to see you. I understand why you must keep your secrets. Take care of yourself my dear." She said and she went to Kiran.

"Thank you for everything Helen. I will always appreciate you." He said.

"Protect her." She replied.

"With my life." He said. He hugged Helen and then she left. 

"Let us go back to the Inn." I said to Ace. I turned to Kiran.

"Wait for us at the cottage we will meet you there." I said to him.

"I cannot leave you." He said.

"The town cannot see you either. I will be safe." I said to him. He nodded and Ace and I went back to the Inn. Inside we saw Talia again. She was dressed the same way as usual. We headed upstairs but her voice stopped the two of us.

"You two are back. There is something important that I need to tell you. It's urgent." she said. Ace and I both looked at each other.

"What do you need to say?" I asked her.

"Can I speak to you alone." She said to me. I looked at Ace and I smiled at him.

"Go. I'll meet you outside." I said to him. He looked hesitant but he left. I stood in front of Talia.

"What do you want to tell me?" I asked her. She looked around her.

"You must come with me. We have to go somewhere quiet." She said. I didn't know if I could trust her, she has been quite rude to me but I don't think she could harm me.

"Let's go." I said to her. She led me upstairs and opened the door to another room.

"Wait for me here." She said.

"Where are you going?" I asked.

"I'll be back she responded and left the room." A few minutes went by until I heard the door open again.

"Finally, I was wondering…" I turned and my words died on my lips, my heart was filled with fear, seeing who was standing in front of me. I could never forget that smile. That cruel smile.

"Kye." I said stepping back.

"Did you miss me, my love. You didn't think I would let you go that easily. Did you?" He said.

ACE POV

It's been a while and Freya has not returned. I was starting to worry and I did not trust Talia one bit. I went down the stairs but I did not see her. Where could they have gone. I went back upstairs and I heard a scream coming from a room. It sounded like Freya. I ran towards the direction that the sound came from and I heard her voice again. It was stronger this time. I reached the door and I opened it. I saw Kye and Freya, they were near the window. Kye was about fall out of it with her.

"So long, brother." Kye said before he dropped out of the window. I heard screams from the market. I went near the window and I saw him with two men. He had Freya, she was unconscious. My eyes went Feral.

"I'm going to kill you!" I screamed at him and I ran downstairs and outside. I ran towards where they were. But they weren't there anymore. They should be heading towards the boundary. I knew it. I have to get Kiran first. Freya would be angry if I left him. I'm sure this is what she would want, we will get her back.

I ran to the cottage. I saw Kiran there. He looked behind me but he didn't see her.

"Where is she?" He asked, worried.

"There is no time for explanations. You have to come with me. Right now." I said to him and he nodded. We both ran towards the boundary. We had to get there fast. Kye wouldn't be too far behind. Once we reached deep inside the forest. I knew I was away from prying eyes. I transformed and I ran faster. Kiran was right in front of me. What I saw marvelled me. He was like a ball of fire running. Turning everything infront of him to flames. Just how powerful was he?

We reached the boundary and we saw Kye and Freya. She was struggling against the men holding her. Kye was almost near the boundary and the men were not far behind. But also not close enough for Kye to notice us attack them. Kiran had fire around him. His eyes were angry. 

"Get her." I'll deal with them. He said. I ran towards the men and I kicked them both down. I grabbed Freya and shielded her with my body. Kye turned around and saw us. Kiran released fire and burnt the men. They screamed from the top of their lungs. Kye looked at him and knowing he was outnumbered and could not do anything he ran. But not before saying.

"I'll be back." He said.

I transformed back and Freya held me tightly. Kiran knelt down and touched her shoulder.

"Next time, I won't leave you." He said.

"Thank you for saving me." She said and held us both.

"That snake Talia. She led me to a trap." She said. I looked at her angry.

"I shouldn't have left you with her. I should have followed my gut and stayed with you." I said.

"Yes, you should have." Kiran said looking angry at me. I glared at him. Freya looked between us.

"This is no time to throw blames. It was nobody's fault. I'm safe that's all that matters. We have to go." She said to us.

FREYA POV

We crossed the boundary and started heading towards the pack. 

"That was Kye? He seemed weak." Kiran said.

"That is because he didn't have enough men with him. Don't underestimate him. Now he knows about you. I'm sure he'll want to study everything there is to know." I said. Kiran looked at me.

"If you say so, I will not underestimate him. We will make sure we are stronger." He said and I was happy he included all of us together. 

"I can't wait for you to meet everybody." I said.

"Welcome to the Moon Pack, Kiran." Ace said and extended his hand. Kiran put his hand in his and we continued our journey.
