LUNA WHISPERS: CHAPTER 28
FREYA POV
I woke up the next morning. Ace was not next to me and I wondered where he had gone. I stood up to look for him. We're in a foreign land, it's not safe to wander around without each other. I stepped out of the room and I went downstairs. Talia was still behind the counter wearing a dress that left nothing to imagination. It's not like I'm judging her because I'm definitely not. It's just that I've never seen people dress like that before in the pack. So I do not know how to react to it. She turned to look at me and when she saw me, she gave a little smirk and turned away.
I went down the stairs to talk to her, maybe she saw Ace leaving.
"Goodmorning." I said to her and she didn't respond. That was quite rude.
"I said Goodmorning." I repeated. She turned to look at me, her face looking distasteful.
"I heard you. What do you want?" She said.
"You could have responded at least." I whispered. I knew she heard me because she clenched her fists but she didn't say anything to me.
"I was wondering if you saw my husband step out. Please can you tell me if you did?" I said to her. She looked up at me.
"He went to one of the stalls to buy food for you two. Apparently the one here is distasteful." She said. I'm sure Ace didn't say it like that.
"My husband is really picky when it comes to what he eats. I hope you understand, it's not from a bad place." I said to her.
"I don't care actually. I couldn't hear most of what he said, I was too busy looking at his face." She said and smiled at me. It wasn't a nice smile.
"How did someone like you get someone like that? I mean, look at you! You don't really seem like his type." She said looking at me from top to bottom. How dare she say that! I was trying to be nice but she asked for it.
"Just like his food, my husband likes things that are good, decent and pure. Dirty isn't really his thing." I said and she glared at me.
"If you would excuse me. I have to look for my him. Thank you for your help." I said and I walked away. I'm not going to let her put me down. Even though I felt hurt by what she said, I'm not going to let it affect me. I know my self worth.
I walked around town, going to different shops. I couldn't remember which one belonged to Helen, so I was just walking aimlessly. I think I'm lost now. I continued walking, maybe I'll see it somewhere around here. As I continued to pass the streets full of playing children and shouting shop owners, I saw three men looking at me. I decided to bend my head and pretend as if they weren't there. I wanted to pass them when one stepped in my path.
"Well, what do we have here?" He said. I could fight him if I wanted to but that would look suspicious. Something tells me that in this town, women aren't particularly skilled in fighting. I would just talk my way out of it.
"I think I was going the wrong way. Sorry, sir." I said, turning around to see the other man behind me.
"Where are you going girl? Don't you want to have some fun with us?" He said. I think I might have to change my mind on the fighting. If this continues I have no choice.
"Samira." I heard from behind the man and I saw Ace walk up and step between the men and I.
"Excuse me. Did my wife do anything wrong?" Ace asked.
"No, she did nothing. I'm sorry we held her up." The man said. He definitely didn't look sorry. Ace glared at him. I could tell he was angry, I placed my hand on his chest and shook my head. He closed his eyes and sighed.
"Let's go, Samira." He said. He took my hand and we went out of there. We went back to the Inn. Thankfully, Talia wasn't there.
"Why did you go out? Don't leave without me again. Heaven knows what would have happened if I hadn't arrived there on time." He said.
"I would have defended myself, if it came to that." I said to him.
"I have no doubt but that would look suspicious. You're skilled, Freya. They would suspect us." He said.
"I was worried about you. I didn't like that you left and you didn't tell me." I said. He hugged me.
"I'm sorry I worried you. From now on, we stay close to each other. I promise." He said. I kissed his cheek.
"So, what's for breakfast?" I said
"Bread." He said.
"Sounds delicious." I said.
"Helen says I should send my greetings." He said.
"You were still asleep when she came. So she asked me to extend her greetings when you woke up." He said.
"That is really kind of her." I said sighing.
"Let's eat. Then we'll start getting down to the reason we came here." I said.
"Do you know where to start first?" He asked
"Yes, my home. I still remember it from the vision. I hope it's still intact. I know we'll find something important there." I said to him.
"Alright then." He said. We went upstairs to eat our food, before heading out later in the day.
We walked towards the road. I remember seeing it in my visions.
"I think we're getting closer. I saw this road when the Sage gave me back my memories." I said to Ace.
"Which way is next?" He asked.
"Let's turn right." I said. I'm sure that it was right. We were almost there. We went right and we saw a secluded cottage. It looked rundown but it was still intact. This was it. This was my home.
"We're here." I said. So much emotions ran across my face remembering that night, all the memories. Ace held me close to him and kissed my forehead.
"We can stay outside for a bit before we go in." He said. I breathed in and I told him.
"No, let's go now. I'm ready." We both stepped inside, not knowing what awaited us.
KYE POV
The damage that Thea created was redeemable. During these past weeks I've been able to train my guards extensively. We got more wolfsbane and crafted more weapons as well. Jacob left that contraption he created. We've been able to learn how to control it. It took time to learn and a lot of wasted bodies but we did it. I did it. The next step was to find a way to get her back and then kill my brother and take back the pack. I still haven't given up on making her mine.
Each day that I wake up, it is all I dream of and all I ever yearn for. I swore each waking day that I would get her back and she'd be next to me like she was always meant to be.
"Kye, we have a lead. Our spies have just reported something." One of my men said.
"Bring him inside." I said. I stationed spies outside of the moon pack, they informed me if anything important goes on in the pack. The spy entered into my room.
"I have a lead." The spy said.
"What do you have for me? It had better be good." I said.
"Your brother and his wife. They went to the human world. They crossed the boundary." He said and I looked at him, shocked.
"Knowing Ace, he must have asked for permission. Which means this must be something important, for the council to agree to that. Those old fools don't know how to have fun." I said. I knew exactly how I was going to get Thea back.
"Looks like we're crossing the boundary." I said smiling.
FREYA POV
The house was filled with vines, stretching out in all areas. There were also some wet areas as well. I was scared to climb up the stairs at this rate for fear of falling.
The basement should be down there. That door." I said. Ace looked at me, probably still in awe about how all this was happening to me.
"Let's go then." He said. We went down the basement. The blanket I laid was still there, neatly folded. That was strange.
"It looks like it's been used recently." Ace said. We heard a loud bang from outside. Ace put me behind him and we slowly went towards the basement doors. Someone was trying to open it, Ace was getting ready to transform but when the door opened and Helen stepped in. Ace relaxed.
"What are you two doing here?" She said.
"What are you doing here." I said. She didn't say anything. She looked behind us and saw that the blanket was neatly folded.
"Where is he?" She said.
"Who?" We asked.
"The boy." She said.
"Do you mean the witch boy?" I said.
"I thought you said he was dead." Ace said. She sighed. "Looks like we've both been lying to each other. Come with me and I'll explain." She said. We went into town and she led us to her shop.
"I think I deserve an explanation first. Who are you people?" Helen said. I sighed.
"I know you won't believe me when I say it." I said to her.
"Try me." She said.
"I am Annalyse, the daughter of Amira. I survived that night and I can tell you for sure that the witch boy was not responsible for our attack. But I cannot tell you who was. You can't know now." I said and she stared at me a bit shocked.
"I'm sure it's a lot to take in but you have to believe me." I said.
"I do believe you and I know it wasn't the witch boy. I've been protecting him. Everyone thinks he died that night but he didn't because I saved him. I always knew it was something else that killed them. I just didn't know what." She said.
"I cannot tell you who killed my parents but trust me when I say that they are going to pay but for that to happen, the witch boy has to come with us. I have been seeing him in my visions." I said.
"You've been having visions. Just like your mother." She said and I was a bit thrown aback by that.
"If I did not believe you before, I definitely do now." She said.
"My mother used to have visions?" I said.
"Yes, she did. She didn't tell anyone because people would have thought she was a witch, and it was true. If people found out, they would have killed her. So she kept it a secret from everyone. Everyone except me." She said.
"Why didn't she…" I think Helen knew the question I was about to ask so she cut me off.
"Your mother had been suppressing her gifts since she married your father. She blocked the visions out. She didn't want them anymore because sometimes they were like torture. If she knew it would save her that night, maybe..." she started but she didn't finish.
Actually I didn't want to relive that night so I diverted the conversation.
"Please, will you help us? We really need to take him along with us." I said.
"I do not know your mission but I am going to trust you. But promise me you will not return to this town again." She said more out of worry than anger.
"I promise." I said.
"Then come with me. I think I know where he went." She said and we stood up and walked with her.
KYE POV
I was getting ready to head to the boundary. I was taking two of my men with me. I could already imagine Thea coming back to me. I could already feel her by my side.
We entered into town; it was busy. I never really entered the town that night. How could I have even done it? I don't remember much. We reached an Inn. We needed a place to lay our heads anyway. This was a good place to start. There was a woman behind the counter. She was wearing close to nothing. Probably to attract men.
"Excuse me, we would like to lodge for the night." I said to her.
"What is it with foreigners coming here these days?" She said. My ears perked up at that.
"Foreigners?" I asked but she didn't answer.
"How many nights are you staying for?" She asked but I ignored.
"What did these foreigners look like? If you don't mind me asking." I said.
"Information doesn't come for free." She told me.
"I'll double your money, just tell me." I said to her and she smiled.
"They were a couple." She said
"Describe them." I told her.
"The woman was a bit tall but not as tall as her husband though but the thing that stood out was her eyes." She said.
"What colour were they?" I asked.
"Green." She said and I smiled.
"Thank you for your time." I said and I paid for the rooms and double for the information she gave me.
"Tell me when they come back and I'll give you more than that." I said to her.
"Gladly." she responded.
I went upstairs feeling happy with the circumstances presented to me.
DARREN POV
It was quite a task running the pack In Ace's absence. But it was a task I was willing to take, so here I am doing it. Having Ralia by my side made it easier for me. She has been here for me through everything. Even though it has just been one day, things have been tough. I had no idea that this was what he went through everyday here. Every time I've been in charge, it was usually for a few hours. But this time it will be for some days and I was really nervous about it. Sometimes I wonder what Ace would do if he were here. I looked out the window and I heard the door open. Ralia stepped into my room and I turned to look at her.
"Is it too late to hand over the reins to you?" I said to her.
"I think it's a bit too late for that." She said. She hugged me from behind.
"You'll do fine." She whispered into my ears. I turned to her.
"This is such a huge responsibility and I don't know when he'll come back." I said.
"Darren, you'll be fine. You've done it before. Just believe in yourself." She said.
"With you by my side I feel like I can do anything." I said to her.
"Well, it's a good thing you have me then. Don't take it for granted." She said to me.
"I would never do that." I said to her.
"Good." she said and then she kissed me deeply. I never tire of her and her kisses. It gets more precious every single time.
"I should probably let you go now. I don't want to do anything that I shouldn't." I said
"What if I want you to?" She said. I held her face.
"If we're doing this, we're doing this the right way." I said to her. She looked at me shocked.
"Do you mean..." She said.
"Well, I didn't want to tell you till I asked for your father's permission but it looks like I have to ask you first." I said to her. I wanted to ask Yuri first but I guess I'll just have to do it now.
I have thought about it and I cannot see my future without Ralia inside it. She means everything to me now and I love her with all of my heart.
"Ralia, will you marry me?" I asked. She smiled. Her eyes lighting up.
"Yes, I will. I'll marry you." She said and kissed me passionately. This was exactly what I wanted. I wouldn't have asked for anything more than for her to be by my side.
"I cannot wait to tell father. He'll be so happy." She said.
"Well, let us go now." I told her and she kissed me once more. She took my hand and we went out of the room. I couldn't wait to start a future with her by my side.
