LUNA WHISPERS: CHAPTER 27
FREYA POV
After my conversation with Ace. We decided to talk to the Council, we needed to give them good reasons why we should be allowed to cross the boundary. I was sure they would see reason. I have a feeling that my visions would help us or at least some of my visions.
I still have to figure out how to get rid of the evil version of me that I keep seeing. She scares me. I keep remembering what the Sage said about fears and doubt. I do not know how to go about it but I really hope I don't see her again, at least for a while. I do not want to be disoriented because of her but something tells me that this thought is too good to be true.
Ace stepped inside the room, his face looked calm, I'm hoping that it means that the council has agreed to hear us out.
"What did they say?" I asked. He sat down next to me, his eyes boring into mine.
"They have agreed to grant us a meeting." He said and a smile made it's way to my face.
"That is great news, when shall we meet them." I said.
"Now." He said and I was shocked. They really didn't want to waste time did they?
"If the meeting goes as planned, we shall leave tomorrow as soon as the sun comes up." He said. I noticed he sounded a bit cold, maybe still not in support of my decision.
"Ace you do not have to come with me. I know that this still does not sit well with you." I said to him. He turned to look at me.
"I am coming with you. I may not be in support because I want nothing more than your safety, but when we got married, I promised to give you my support and that is what I am giving to you. Because I love you." He said and touched my face tenderly.
"I'm not angry with you Freya, I do not want you to think that. I am just frustrated with everything. I just want everything to go back to normal." He said. I touched his shoulder.
"Everything will be alright soon, my love. I know it." I said and he smiled. I kissed him on the shoulder.
"We should get going, let us not keep the council waiting." He said and we both stepped out, our hands joined together.
We arrived at the meeting and the council was already waiting for us along with the Sage. I had never been in here before so I did not know what to expect. All of them looked intimidating. We walked into the room. Ace took me to the head of the table where he sat down. He led me to the chair beside him. I sat down, but he could see that I looked nervous.
"Don't worry, just calm down and everything will be fine." He said and gave me a small smile. I took a deep breath in. Ace turned to the council to talk to them.
"You all know why we're here tonight. My wife has been having some visions. Visions that could possibly help us with our common enemy, My brother, Kye." He said.
"You never told us what these visions are about?" One of the council members said. Ace wanted to speak but I held his hand. I knew what I was going to tell them, but I was scared because I withheld something from him. I didn't tell him about the vision where there was fire in the pack and Kye was standing over him. Ready to kill him.
"Good evening council members, elders." I said looking at all of them. Including the Sage. He acted so neutral, like he didn't know anything about what was going on.
"These visions have been persistent and I believe that it is a warning of some sort. In the first vision, I saw fire engulfing the pack and Kye standing over Ace about to kill him." I said.
Ace looked at me, there was shock written all over his face. I knew I didn't tell him and he was probably hurt by it. I just didn't want him to worry too much. The council members looked uneasy. I sat up in my seat and I composed myself.
"In the second vision, I saw someone in the human world. He said I should come find him. He might be a missing puzzle to something. I think we really need to take action and go to the human world. I know that it is against all our rules but it is for an important cause. If there is a slightest possibility that one of the key to destroying Kye is there waiting for us in the human world. I suggest that we should take it." I said and let out a breath.
They looked like they were thinking about it, deliberating the whole situation. When the Sage spoke up.
"I think the Luna is right. You all should think about this carefully. I think that she makes a good point." He said. The rest of the council had to agree now. If the Sage agrees with me, he is probably correct about something. I feel like they would listen to him more than me at this point. I just hope they agree.
"I think we should put it on a vote. All in favour please raise your hands." One of the council members said. Thankfully majority did. I closed my eyes, relieved at the outcome. Ace looked upset, he wouldn't look at me and I understood him.
"You must leave your affairs and your pack to someone trustworthy Ace." One of the Alphas said.
"I already have it sorted out. Thank you. I assure you, you will not regret your decision." Ace said and we both left. Ace took my hand in his and he led me out. Immediately we were out of sight, he left my arm and started to walk away.
"Ace, wait!" I said to him. He stopped but he didn't turn to look at me.
"Why didn't you tell me?" He asked.
"I didn't want you to worry and think too much about it." I said. He turned to me.
"We said no more secrets Freya. Isn't that what we agreed on." He said. I didn't say anything.
"You should have told me about it. I deserved to know." He said to me. I looked at the ground, not wanting to see how he looked.
"I'm sorry." I said. He turned away and sighed.
"We should get some sleep, we have a long day tomorrow." He said. I walked towards him and I knew that we wouldn't have such a good night.
The next morning we woke up, we got a few clothes that we might need as well. We were going to the human world, I still didn't believe it. I wonder what humans do, I wonder how they act. I knew we were going there on a mission. But it wouldn't hurt to know more about my parents and how they lived. Ace hasn't talked to me yet. He was probably still upset with me.
"Are you ready yet?" He said. I looked at him and frowned a bit.
"Are you still angry at me?" I asked him. He didn't look at me at all.
"I'm not angry Freya, I'm just hurt." He said. I nodded my head and then I said to him.
"I am done packing, we can go." and he nodded.
We went outside the pack and we saw Darren, Ralia and mother. They probably woke up earlier to see us off. Mother came closer to me and she hugged me, I hugged her back. I felt her sniffling on my shoulder.
"Mother do not cry." I said to her.
"You take care of yourself okay? Make sure you're safe. Both of you." She said looking at Ace and I.
"We will mother." I said to her. Darren hugged Ace and I hugged Ralia. Darren was going to be in charge while Ace left. The pack couldn't be in better hands.
We said a final goodbye to all of them and then we headed for the boundary. During our walk Ace still didn't say a word to me. Truthfully, I had a enough of it. I know I was wrong but his behaviour right now is unacceptable. I stepped in front of him, glaring at him.
"What?" He said.
"I'm tired of your attitude towards me. I was wrong but you shouldn't treat me this way because of it." I said to him.
"Freya, we'll be late." He said, he wanted to go the other way but I stopped him.
"No, we're going to talk about it. I'm sorry Ace. How many times do you want me to say it." I said.
"You shouldn't apologize." He said.
"But you are clearly angry at me." I said
"I'm not angry at you." He said and he looked at me. For the first time since yesterday, he truly looked at me.
"Do you think me weak and incapable to handle certain information or things that come my way?" He said.
"I would never think that." I said frowning.
"Then why didn't you tell me. Because that is the only tangible reason I can think of." He said.
"I just didn't want you to worry. You were already worrying so much about my safety in the rogue territory. I felt that adding one more thing for you to worry about wouldn't be okay given the circumstances. I'm sorry if you felt that way." I said and I held his hands.
"You are the most capable person I have met Ace. You are strong and a good leader. I could never think less of you." I said to him and I meant every single word. He looked at me and smiled.
"That is a lie." He said and I frowned, when he held my hand.
"You are more capable Freya." He said and then he went silent. We both continued on our way to the boundary. Ace held my hand as we went. I smiled knowing that he had forgiven me. I looked at him and he looked right back at me, he held me close to him.
"No more secrets okay, please." He said.
"I promise you. No more secrets." I responded.
The boundary was close. I could already see it. It was like an ocean covering a part of the forest that no one was allowed to cross. We got closer to it and now we were standing in front of it.
"Are you ready?" He said and I nodded.
"I'm ready." We both stepped into the boundary and found ourselves at another forest quite different from ours and it was night time here.
"It's night here?" I asked.
"The time between us is very tricky. Somtimes it's the same, sometimes the opposite." He said.
"Are you ready to be a normal human couple?" He asked.
"I would love nothing more." I said. We went further into the forest and when we got out, we saw a lot of humans. Children were playing, Women were selling their products and even food. Some men were drinking. It was quite a sight. Everywhere was filled with so much joy and laughter. They really did know how to fill their days. Ace held my hands.
"Let's go." He said
"Alright." I responded.
We went to one of the shop owners. She looked between the two of us when she saw us. Probably trying to remember if she had seen us before.
"You two look like you're new around town." She said and smiled.
"We are." I responded. I turned to the woman to introduce ourselves to her.
"I am Samira and this is my husband Trevor. We have been travelling for days. We were wondering if you knew a place we could rest our head for a while." I said to her.
"Oh, my name is Helen. Come with me, let me show you to the Inn. It's been long since we've had foreigners here." She said smiling.
"What brought you here?" She asked.
"We like to travel around. We just got married recently." Ace said and smiled at me.
"A match made In heaven then?" She asked.
"You can say that again." Ace said and smiled a bit. I smiled back at him.
"Let me just finish up here. Then we'll be on our way to the Inn. I was about to leave." She said.
"We'll wait for you. Thank you for your kindness." I said.
"Anything for a lovely couple like you two." She said. When she was done with what she was doing. She walked us to the Inn. She was telling us everything about the town as we walked together all with a smile on her face. We passed a shop, which looked deserted and I stopped briefly. It looked familiar.
"Sorry, Helen." I said to her.
"Who owns this shop?" I asked her. Her smile faded away.
"It used to belong to Amira. Her family was killed along with her by that witch boy." She said with rage in her eyes.
"Witch boy?" I said looking as shocked as she would expect of me.
"Yes." she said. "Amira, her husband Nuel and her daughter Annalyse were killed by a witch boy at their very home." Helen said. My body stiffened when I heard my name. Ace held my waist, probably to calm me down.
"That sounds sad. It seems the two of you were close." I said to her.
"She was my bestfriend." She said sadly.
"Where is the witch boy now?" I asked. Maybe she thought I was naturally curious, so she answered me.
"He's dead." She said and we continued our walk. She left no further room for conversation and I felt like I had ruined her mood.
Helen seemed to think a witch boy killed my parents which is actually false. If it is the boy I saw in our basement and he is dead why did he ask me to find him? I thought. There must be more to this.
"We're here." Helen said. We stepped into the Inn. There was a woman behind the counter. The dress she wore was very indecent. I couldn't even look at her. She stared at Ace boldly, licking her bottom lip and twirling her hair. I held onto him tightly. Ace lips pulled up in a small smile.
"Helen. What beautiful specimens you've brought for me today. Although one seems to be more alluring." She said drawing the last word.
"Watch your words Talia. They are a married couple." Helen said to the girl.
"Oh." She responded and gave me a distasteful look.
"They want a room for some days." Helen said.
"How many days are we talking about?" Talia asked.
"How much for 20days?" Ace asked.
"That would be a hundred silver coins" Talia said. The human world was quite different, they paid for things here with coins. Do we have coins? I looked at Ace and he smiled at me. He brought out something from his pocket.
"Here you go." He said to Talia. Talia smirked and looked at Helen.
"You've found a big fish for me Helen. Thank you." She said to her.
"I'll come check up on you two in the morning." Helen said.
"You do not have to. You've done so much for us already Helen." I said to her.
"Well, I want to." She said. I smiled at her.
"You remind me of Amira. You two look so alike." She said looking in awe.
"I am humbled that you would think so. Thank you again Helen. We'll go take rest now." I said.
"Of course dear. See you tomorrow." She said and left. I sighed and Ace held my shoulder.
"Are you okay?" He asked sensing my mood.
"Let's go upstairs first." I told him and he led me up with him.
We both sat down and I hugged him tightly. I looked up at him.
"It's just that, seeing pieces of my mother's life brought out a few emotions out of me." I said to him.
"It just makes me miss her so much more." I said.
"I understand, my love" he said and kissed my forehead.
"Now that we are here. We'll get the chance to know more and also figure out what your visions mean. Together." He said.
"Yes, together." I responded.
"As long as I have you. I am confident that I can do anything." I said. He smiled at me.
Tomorrow, I will start to uncover all the pieces that I've been missing.
