LUNA WHISPERS: CHAPTER 17

 

FREYA POV

Fortunately, today I woke up with no dreams or no revelations like the sage called them. Today was the day, the day I was going to sway Jacob to our side. With the information that Neveah gave me, It would be much easier that way. It may not be that difficult to get him since his loyalty towards Kye was fading by the minute. I felt a hand wrap itself around my waist.

"Goodmorning." Kye said breathing air into my neck.

"Morning." I answered. He looked at me, his eyes shining brighter because of the sun streaming in from the window. His eyes weren't as beautiful as that of Ace. They were nice but they weren't Ace's. I miss waking up next to him. Holding him, kissing him. I just wanted my husband.

"Are you okay? You seem lost in your thoughts." Kye said.

"I'm fine." I said stroking his cheeks. He closed his eyes and kissed the inside of my palm. 

"Kye?" I asked 

"Hmm. " He responded still lost in the feeling of my hands on his face.

"Can I ask you a question?" I asked

"Anything." He said.

"How did you end up becoming the leader of the rogues. You still haven't told me the story. You didn't want to say much about it the last time and I respected that. I just want to know as much about you, as possible." I said. He sighed.

"Thea." I could tell he wanted to refuse again.

"You've asked me to open myself to you. To tell you my worries and my past and I have. I'm asking you to do the same." I said. I needed him to tell me. This might give more information to use when recruiting Jacob to my side.

"Okay." He responded 

"It was 10 years ago. I had just been exciled and I found my way to the rogue pack." He said 

10 YEARS AGO.

KYE POV

I was wondering in the woods still remembering the betrayal of my brother. I was tired and thirsty. I didn't know where I was going or how I would reach there. I was tired of walking so I decided to lean on a tree. I promised myself that Ace would pay for this. That everybody would pay for this. After staying there for a while, I decided to continue my journey. As I was walking I reached a place. It had a gate closing it off from people, there were two guards stationed there. I walked towards the gate.

"Help me." I said 

"Stop right there." One of the men said 

"I mean no harm. I was exciled from the moon pack." I said.

"Come with us." They said. They both dragged me into the place and placed me on the ground. 

"Call Gregor." One of them said. The man left to go call whoever the hell Gregor was. After a while a man came out. He was a bit old but not too old. He looked down at me with a slight frown on his face.

"You say you're an excile?" He said 

"Yes, I am, from the moon pack." I said.

"Hmmm. Take him to the dungeons first of all, we'll see what to do about him later." He said. Before I could say anything a little boy ran up to the man.

"Father, Eleanor does not want to play with me." The little boy said groaning

"Jacob. Eleanor has a lot of things to do than to play with you all day." The man said.

"Come on, go inside, I'll meet you later." He said to the boy. The boy frowned but still went in as he was told.

"What are you waiting for. Take him away." Gregor said.

"Wait. Are you the leader here?" I asked him.

"Yes, I am. Now don't ask any other questions, take him away. Bring him in for questioning later."

"Yes, Gregor." They said. And that was how I was thrown into a dungeon.

Later that night I was brought out. At least they had the courtesy to give me food and water. I was dragged out of the dungeon and brought back to Gregor. He looked at me as I was dropped to the floor ready to question me I assume.

"Why were you exciled?" He asked.

"I broke the rules, I crossed the boundary between the humans and werewolves." I said 

"You've got guts boy. I'll give you that." He said.

"More guts than you?" I said 

"Definitely not." He answered. You are allowed to live amongst us. We obtain peace here and not violence, so I ask you to follow the rules this time or you'll be kicked out from the territory." He said.

"I want to get revenge on the moon pack for what was done to me. I was to be Alpha and my life was stripped away from me because of my brother." I said

"This is not a place of violence. When you come here, you drop away every bit of rage and malice you have. This place is only for people who want to find peace within themselves. If you cannot do that I suggest you leave." He said. He wanted to turn around when I said.

"Then you are all weaklings and you're a weak leader. Even with your own territory you still serve the packs like dogs even though you don't know it. You have everything. Why not take revenge on them for treating you the way they did, sending you out from where you belong and making you nameless. If this is how this territory operates under your leadership, I wonder how it will be under your feeble son." I said 

"Enough. You insult me and you insult my honour as well as my family." He said.

"Then duel me and get your honour back. Let's fight to the death. If I win the territory is mine and if you loose. Well. You die." I said smirking 

"Do not fall for it Gregor. He's only trying to rile you up." One of them said. But because it already worked, Gregor agreed to the challenge.

PRESENT 

FREYA POV

"I defeated Gregor and took over the territory. I made it as successful as it is now. No longer as weak as Gregor wanted it to be. Peace is never possible. In order to get prosperity you have to be hard. You have to use your power. Remember this Thea. Weak people don't make it." He said. I looked at Kye trying not to act shocked at him. 

Trying to imagine what reason he would have to be proud if what he's done. To be proud of destroying a family, to be proud of destroying the peace of the place, to be proud of traumatizing a little boy to that extent and making him feel so lowly. 

"I understand what you mean." I said. 

"Are you happy now that I've told you." He said

"Yes, I'm happy that I have a clearer picture now." I said. I stood up from the bed. 

"Well, I have to get ready, I have something important to check out in the weaponry shed."

"Yes, what did you find out when you were there the last time." He said seriously.

"Only that you have an impressive weapons maker and he's going to show me a practical of his little experiment." I said

"Don't worry, I'll report back to you." I said and left the room. I had enough ammunition to get Jacob on our side and now I'm going to use it. If I can convince him it would help a lot in our war with the rogues and also help me to defeat Kye. As I was walking, I felt a little dizzy. I had to hang on to the wall to stabilize myself.

"Are you okay?" Kye said holding my shoulder.

"Yes, I think so." I replied.

"I fell to the ground and instantly it felt like I was in another world. When I looked down I found myself in the woods. It was night time, when I stood up I heard a voice.

"Come Freya." It sounded like my voice. I walked closer to the voice. I wanted to will myself to stop but I could not. It sounded like a siren drawing me to it. I walked until I reached a river.

"Look inside." the voice said. I went closer and I looked inside. I saw my face but then I saw something else. It was me. She was standing before me. She looked awful, defeated. She stretched her hand out to strangle me and then I let out a scream.

"Thea." Kye said holding me. I looked at him wide eyed.

"What's wrong. Why are you screaming?" He said 

" I…I." That was all I could let out. 

"Come on, let's go to bed. Rest a while before leaving." He said. I followed him and I sat down. Pondering and wondering how long these visions would last. What do I have to do to stop it?

RALIA POV

"Have you gotten rusty old man. I thought you were stronger than that." I said to my father.

"Don't talk to me like that girl. Remember who trained you." He said.

"How could I ever forget." I said helping him to stand up. After I helped him dust himself off, I saw a pack maid come to me, she looked like she was in a haste.

"Ralia. Isis demands to see you immediately. She says it cannot wait." She said and then she ran back to where she was coming from.

"I better go and see what this is all about father." I said to my father.

"Go on then child. I expect a rematch later." He said.

"And you will get nothing less." I said laughing. I went to my chambers to change my clothes and make myself presentable. I wonder what Isis wanted to talk about. I went to her chambers and then I knocked. The door was opened by the pack maid who ran to call me. After she opened the door, she left and Isis told me to come sit down with a smile on her face.

"It's been long since we've had tea Ralia. Come join me." She said.

"I'm sorry. I've been a bit occupied lately." I said 

"It's no problem. You're here now." She said.

"Did you only invite me for tea?" I asked 

"Still as smart as ever I see." She said smirking.

"I know you well by now." She said. 

"I have something I need to tell you but you must not tell anybody that I told you about it." She said. Isis told me everything about Freya and her mission. To say I was shocked was an understatement. I was very shocked but also admired her. God knows I would never do something like that. Maybe Freya was a better fit than me after all. A better Luna.

"Why are you telling me this?" I asked

"I am telling you, because I fear that something bad may happen to her and we may not have a Luna because of it." She said

"So you're not in the slightest worried about her." I said. Isis looked away.

"Look Ralia. I want you to seduce Ace. Make him want you. So if she dies you can take over from her." I looked at Isis shocked at her behaviour.

"How can you even say that?" I said looking at her with disgust.

"With all due respect you should be ashamed of yourself." I said.

"Do not talk to me like that." She said.

"I will talk you however I want because you are acting in a disgusting manner. You should be proud to have someone ready to fight for this pack with all her life as a daughter-in-law. But here you are suggesting something so awful. You should be praying for her health and survival but look at you." I said.

"Nothing is going to happen to her and I would never dream of doing such a thing to the Luna of this pack. I will never dream of that." I said.

"You should be disappointed in yourself. " I looked at her with contempt and she just seethed with anger. 

"Isis, you should do better. You should do better as a mother. How could you say such callous things. I will forget that we ever had this conversation, so that I can hang on to the remaining respect that I have for you." 

After I said this I left. I decided not to inform Ace about this to save Isis the disgrace. I could not imagine that she would even suggest something like that. I went back to my chambers, hoping for Freya's safety. She needed to be okay to reclaim her place. I went back to my father for our rematch I wanted to clear my head of everything that had just happened and this was the way to do it. After we trained together, I went to bed to rest.

FREYA POV

I went to the weaponry shed to meet with Jacob. I was about to execute my plan. I was about to convince him to join my side. I was thinking of the vision but I decided to push it at the back of my mind for now. I reached the shed and I asked for Jacob. I was directed to the farthest part of the shed and I saw him.

"I wanted to come in this morning but there were unforseen circumstances." I said 

"It's alright. I'm not going anywhere. Come with me." He said. We both went outside and he took me to where he had set up his weapon on display to show it to me.

"This is it. I call it Bane." He said looking proud. I found the name corny but whatever suits him.

"Let's take it for a test drive." He said.

"I suggest you take a few steps back for this." He said. I stepped back. And he started up the machine.

"Are you ready for this." He said. When he was done with whatever he was doing he shot it and the bomb flew to the farthest part of the forest and exploded. I couldn't feel the impact that much but I could hear the sound. That thing was dangerous. This could wipe half of the moon pack away. Jacob looked at me. Ecstatic and happy about his invention.

"Jacob." I said 

"You're impressed aren't you?" He said 

"I am but we need to talk about something. It's important." I said 

"What is it about?" He asked.

"I know you hate Kye more than anything in this world." I said and his face went sour.

"What are you driving at?" He asked 

"I can help you get revenge for your father. I can help you destroy him." I said.

"Are you not supposed to be on his side." He said eyeing me up and down.

"I am not who you think I am." I said. I told Jacob everything. He looked at me not knowing if to report me or to stay and listen. I knew I was taking a risk. But I hope this risk would yield fruit. It had to.

"I know what it's like to lose family. Kye killed my parents. Both of them. He risked their lived because of a dare. He ruined me." I could see that I was getting through to him.

"All I want is revenge. As I am sure that you do as well. I know you are only here because you have no other choice but I can give you a choice. If you help me. You no longer have to stay here. I will personally make sure that you come with me to my pack and live a peaceful life. Away from all this violence." I said

"Help me ruin Kye." I said.

"You have a lot of guts trusting me with this information. How are you sure that I will not report you." He said.

"Because if you wanted to, you would have already done so." I said. He looked conflicted.

"And you'll keep your promise?" He said. 

"I will. I never go back on my word. Help me defeat him and I will fufil all of my promises." I said 

"Then consider me your ally. I will do everything I can to help you and in the process get revenge on that brute for everything he's done to my family and all that my father has built. For making me his toy. I will help you Luna." He said.

"I promise. You will not regret it." I said.
