LUNA WHISPERS: CHAPTER 11

 

FREYA POV

"I'll leave you here Freya." Yuri said behind me. I turned to look at him and nodded my head. 

"I'll be fine Yuri. Thank you for coming with me this far." I said. I was about to walk further when Yuri held my hand. I turned to look at him, he looked concerned.

"Take care of yourself Freya, remember all that I taught you." I knew this was his way of saying he was worried about me and I appreciated it.

"You trained me well Yuri, I'll be fine." I said touching his hand firmly but also gently. 

"Tell Ace to take care of himself and that I love him. I'll be here in three days with information. If I don't have any, I'll hang a blue clothe showing that I'm safe. If I don't come at all..." I said pausing

"Let's not assume the worst. I believe in you Freya." He said and I felt more confident. Yuri left and I continued my journey. I needed to make this look believeable. Once I reached close to the rogue territory. I smeared dirt on myself and I tore my clothes a bit. I brought out my dagger and made a cut on my left arm. 

I watched as blood dripped down it. I convinced myself it was for the best. Even if my now slit arm didn't agree with me. I walked until I reached something that looked like a gate. Two rogues roamed outside it. They looked dangerous, almost blood thirsty. I came out in the open and they spotted me instantly.

"Who are you?" They asked angrily, as I was about to speak they screamed at me.

"Hands in the air. Now!"

"I was exciled from the moon pack. I've been walking aimlessly for a long time. I just spotted this place now. Is this where the other rogues stay?" I said sounding scared.

"You don't get to ask questions." He said. He looked at the other rogue and pointed his head towards my direction. The rogue instantly held my left arm and I winced in pain. 

"Please be careful. My arm is injured." I whimpered.

"Shut up." The man said spitting on my face. He  dragged me inside, he took me to a place that looked like a parlour. It was a bit scanty and it was also dark, with little lighting entering inside. He pushed me towards another man. He didn't look like the other man did. He looked more decent. Like he was someone important. 

"Eren, we found her outside. She said she was exciled from the moon pack." The guy who I am assuming is Eren stared at me. He bent down to look into my eyes. He looked like he was analyzing me. Without taking his eyes off me he talked to the man who brought me to him. More like dragged me to him.

"You brought her in and you didn't notice her weapons." His hand reached towards my waistband and brought out my daggers, he threw them at the other man.

"Next time, before you bring someone in here make sure that they are unarmed first." Still looking at me he said.

"Hand over any other weapons you have." He said.

"I don't have anymore weapons." I said, my head was bent down. This man was intimidating.

"You can leave now." He said to the other man. The man left and Eren stood up, he kept staring at me as he did.

"Stand up and come with me." He commanded. I walked behind him, as we were walking he turned to speak to me.

"I'm sorry about how you were dragged here. I've told the guards to bring in people who come here peacefully. That Is unless they're asking for a fight." He said.

"Well, I wasn't." I said. He turned fully to look at me.

"What is your name?" He asked, eyes never leaving mine. Looks like Eren has a thing for eye contact.

"Thea." I said. It was the first name that came into my brain. It was from one of the stories mother used to read me.

"Welcome to the rogue territory. I'll take you to our leader. You'll answer to him now." He said. Finally I was going to meet Kye. I wanted to see him, maybe my thirst for his blood would be stronger than before. I wanted something to motivate me, to remind me of the reason for my mission. Seeing him will surely do the trick. Imagining him dying by my garrote. I was removed from my trance when Eren called my name. 

"We're here." He said. He held me by my arm a little bit firmly. He opened the door and pointed towards a chair.

"Sit." He said and after that he left. I looked around me. The room was brighter than downstairs. Even though it was still dark. The sun was beginning to come out and the skies were getting a bit clearer. I was beginning to get fatigued from the journey I made to get here but I reminded myself that I had to stay awake. That I had to be strong. As I was still standing, I felt a presence behind me. The hairs on my neck stood. 

I turned around to see Kye, his face was quite close to mine. He had a huge gash on his face which made him look dangerous. He wasn't ugly and though it pained me to say so. He was handsome, but nothing compared to Ace. Finally I can put a face to the name. A face to the name of the man I wanted to kill so badly. I moved away from him. I was already repulsed by him already. 

Pretending to be cordial just to gain his trust would be difficult for me. The urge to kill him was getting stronger by the second. Just remembering what he did to my parents was enough for me to cut his throat. His lips turned up in a smirk when he saw my expression.

"I thought you were asked to sit." He said. He was walking around me now. Slowly.

"I prefer to stand." I said. He didn't speak for a while after I said that. I was wondering what he was doing. Until I felt him pull a strand of my hair between his fingers. Out of instinct I turned around and hit him in the nose. He was momentarily stunned.

"Don't touch me." I said, my voice trying to sound intimidating. Kye touched his nose, blood already coming out of it. He smiled a bit. 

"Wow, you're quite fiesty." He said. I didn't realize when he had his hands wrapped around my throat, he pushed me to the wall. Eyes starring daggers at me while he strangled the life out of me.

"Where did you learn to hit like that?" He asked. My voice came out in gasps.

"My…my father taught me. He was a pack warrior before he died. He wanted me to be able to defend myself" I said. His grip on me loosened but it was still tight.

"Why were you exciled?" 

"Treason." I said 

"What did you do?" He asked again.

"I ca...n't breath...e" I said

"I ask again. What did you do?" He said, his hands tightening.

"I tried to poison the Alpha." I said.

After that he let go of me and I let in some much needed air. Coughing as I did so.

"Why?" He asked.

"I blame him for my father's death." I said talking solemnly to sound convincing.

"Why is that?" He asked.

"I would like to keep that close to myself first. If you don't mind. Please." I whispered. 

"Fine, keep your secrets. For now. I'm only granting you this request because you had the decency to sound respectful. But that does not mean you won't get a punishment for your little display earlier." He said. I looked at him. 

"You're in my territory now and so you'll abide by my rules. We usually reserve this for men who can prove that they belong here. Women are usually exempted but since you know how to defend yourself so well. You'll have to prove that you belong here. Maybe next time you'll learn how to respect me better. If there's a next time." He said with a little smirk.

"Eren!" He screamed. Take her to the fighting ground. She'll fight to the death for her place here." 

"But she's a woman." Eren said. Shocked at Kye.

"Well this woman knows how to fight. So she'll fight for her stay here." He turned to Eren and pointed towards me. Eren nodded his head and lifted me up. I winced a bit due to the pain in my arm.

"I'll be watching you. Thea." He said in a mocking tone. I'm not going to to lose this fight and I'll make sure of it.

I was dragged to the fighting ground by Eren. He threw me inside unceremoniously. I landed on the floor, after picking myself up. I saw Kye looking at me from outside the circle. Rogues were everywhere, some cheering at the scene before them. All of them were men. I wondered where the women were. Kye silenced them by raising his hands up in the air.

"We have a new member." He said.

"This one knows her way around fighting. So she's going to fight for her place among the rogues. Like any man would." He said. The men cheered. Why would anyone find this amusing? Watching people die.

"You'll be fighting with your hands. There are no rules in the ring. Fight with whatever tactics you have." Kye screamed.

"Enjoy the show." The rogues cheered at that. A tall man with bulky muscles came from the other side. His eyes looked dangerous. He was very large. I won't lie and say that I was not scared. I was. But I remembered Yuri's words. Find your enemies weakness and use it to your advantage. 

"Who's ready to see me destroy this little girl." He said. The pack cheered. Someone in the crowd shouted.

"Save all the talk for later, show us some action." Looking at him and hearing him talk. I knew he was someone with a lot of pride and ego. So his weakness would have been people making fun of him. Especially if that person is a woman.

"Why don't you stop yapping and fight. Or are you stalling because you're scared. Are all those muscles for nothing." I said smirking. After I said that his face morphed into that of anger and he ran towards me rashly. At the right moment I slide underneath him and moved to the other side. He lost his footing and hit his head on the wall I was leaning on due to his speed.

"Looks like you're getting rusty." I said. He charged towards me again this time faster and he pushed me to the ground. Kicking me in the stomach. 

"Why don't you say that again!" He screamed. I groaned in pain. When he tried hitting me once more. I grabbed his leg, wrapping myself around it. After that I pushed him to the floor. The crowd was getting louder. I climed on top of him and hit my forehead on his nose twice. He groaned in pain. I crawled back to the ground. Standing up. I spotted someone in the crowd with a rope on his waist. If I could just get close to him and grab it. Before I could think more, the man grabbed me, lifted me an threw me at the other side of the ring. Luckily for me it was where the man with the rope was. I lifted my hands and snatched the rope. He didn't seem to notice since he was too engrossed in the fight. 

I laid there feigning weakness. I just needed him to come closer to me. I knew he would want to gloat before killing me and that was exactly what he did. Giving me the perfect opening.

"Look at her. Pathetic." He said. Turning his back to me, reveling in the cheers of the men and when it was time. I jumped on top of him. I wrapped my legs on his waist. Brought the rope and strangled him with it. He was momentarily stunned. Moving around and trying to grab my face with his hands but I only tightened the rope. He struggled against me. Until his shoulders went limp and we both fell together. I hit my hand on the floor. Pain enveloped me and I became weak.

"He's dead. Looks like we have a winner." That was the last thing I heard before all I saw was darkness.

I woke up in a room, it looked small. My eyes were struggling to open because of the pain I felt in my head. There was a woman next to me. Her eyes looked concerned.

"You're awake now dear." She said. She looked at me and smiled.

"You fought well. According to what I heard at least. You defeated Gail. That says a lot about you." She said to me.

"Who are you?" I asked her. 

"I am among the woman that was captured and taken here. I'm from the sun pack." She said.

"Thea, an excile of the moon pack." I said

"Oh, why were you exciled?" She asked 

"Treason. And that's all I'll say of the topic if you don't mind." I said to her.

"Of course. You are entitled to your privacy." She repeated. She stood up and held my hand.

"Come, I'll take you to go bathe and give you some clothes. After that you'll go see Kye. He requested for you. The guards said I should inform you as soon as you're awake." She said 

"Thank you." I repeated. After my bath and a change of clothes, one of the guards came to get me. I was led back to Kye's chambers. Once I was entered inside the guard left. Kye turned to look at me. A glint in his eyes. Like he was impressed by me.

"I haven't seen a lot of women who can fight the way that you do." He said.

"I'm not like most women." I said

"I can see that." He stated. "You have quite a tounge on you." He came closer to me, lifting my chin with his finger.

"I like strong women and you have proven to me that you deserve a place among the rogues." He stated.

"Thank you. I'm happy that I was able to prove myself." I said staring him in the eye. 

"You're quite intriguing you know. No one has spoken to me the way you do and yet for some reason, I seem to like being challenged by you." He said.

"It's quite fun." He stated eyes drifting to my lips.

"Maybe you were missing a little bit of a challenge In your life." I said and he laughed.

"Trust me. I have many of those as I'm sure you are aware." He said

"I know, for what it's worth. I hope you win against your brother. I'm really looking forward to his death." I said. Even though it sickened me to the stomach talking about Ace that way. Kye smiled at me.

"From now henceforth, you'll be a maid here. Not just any maid though. My personal maid." He said with a commanding voice.

"I think I can handle that." I said with confidence. This was perfect. This was a chance to know more about him and crumble him in the best way possible. He had just given me the upper hand and he didn't even know it.

"Go and get your rest. I'll call you when I need you. Eren will show you to your new room." He said.

"Of course. Thank you." I said. He finally left my chin and walked towards his bed side table. I left the room, happy that I had achieved something today. Happy that I was one step closer to success. As I came out I saw Eren. He took me to my new room. Just some feet away from Kye's chambers. 

Once I was settled. He nodded towards my direction. I looked around me and fell on the bed. It was night time now. I slept for quite a long time but  I was still exhausted. I smiled to myself. Kye had no idea what he had just done to himself and it will be very exciting to watch him crumble. I slept again.

I was ready to face tomorrow.
