LUNA WHISPERS: CHAPTER 10

 

FREYA POV

It's been two weeks since Ace had been attacked. He was already healed from his bruises. Since that day I've been giving him my blood to hasten the healing process. Kye hasn't struck again, and I've been undergoing more training with Yuri.

We've been training endlessly from dawn till dusk. I didn't mind. I just wanted to be stronger. I wanted to defeat Kye badly, I wanted him to suffer. I knew the reward for all the pain I was going through would be sweet. Yuri decided that is was time for me to wield a weapon.

"This is where we keep all our weapons" he said leading me to the shed containing all the pack weapons. They were many to choose from. But I wanted one that spoke to me.

"You can choose which ever one you want. Which one makes you feel comfortable." He said. I went close to the weapons, touching each and every one of them with my hands, feeling them. Until I found a garrote and two short daggers. I took them and showed them to Yuri.

"I want this one" I said. Yuri looked at me with a smile on his face. 

"Why did you choose it?" He asked.

"I just imagined the look on Kye's face as I strangled him with it and inflicted him with several injures from my dagger." I said. Yuri smiled at that.

"You really want to kill him badly, don't you?" He said.

"Nothing would give me more pleasure" I said 

KYE POV

I failed. That was all I could think of, I didn't kill him.

"He was supposed to be alone." I said to Eren.

"I would be lying if I said this plan would go the way we hoped it would. He must have had the sense to bring others along because of the attacks. We should have seen it coming." He said.

"You're right" I responded.

"We've taken all the resources from the sun pack, we're more fortified than before."

"But not fortified enough to destroy my brother, the moon pack is powerful, that is the sole reason I wanted to kill him In the hunt. It was the perfect opportunity. But then it was ruined." I said throwing a vase to the wall. The sound of glass echoed all around me.

"If I killed Ace, it would have been easier to take over." 

If I killed him I would have become Alpha. In our packs things work differently. You can only become Alpha of a pack if you kill the Alpha of your own pack. You can't become Alpha if you kill from another because your roots don't belong there. I destroyed the sun pack as a warning and nothing more. Their resources were also valuable. It was easy to infiltrate them. 

But the moon pack was harder to get through. If I wanted to get back what belonged to me. I would have to kill Ace directly.

"We should have used the weapons and wolfsbane during the hunt instead. We shouldn't have used them on the sun pack." I said

"We had no choice, the weapons wouldn't have been enough to attack the moon and the sun pack. We would have failed." 

"We still failed anyway!" I screamed. Eren kept mute after that.

"What do we do now?" He said.

"We wait. You said you gathered resources from the sun pack. Were weaponry and metal amongst them?" I asked.

"Yes." He responded.

"Then we make more weapons, we train harder. We also need to gather more wolfsbane. We have to get stronger because next time I'm not going lose. Not to Ace." I said. It will be difficult but I'll make sure that this time. I'll win.

FREYA POV

I went to up to our chambers to visit Ace. He was doing much better. He just needed to regain strength and he would be fine. I walked to the room to see him sitting down and drinking a cup of warm water. When I came into the room he smiled at me. I had a frown on my face.

"You scared me." I said, taking a seat next to him and holding his hand.

"Don't scare me like that again." I whispered 

"I'm fine now, my love. Aren't I?" He said with a teasing smile on his face.

"If you were alone I dread what would have happened. I'm happy that you took my advice." I said. He reached out to touch my cheek.

"I'm happy as well. You saved my life Freya." he said

"Devon would beg to differ." I said laughing and he chuckled as well.

"How was your training today?" He asked. Pulling me over to sit on his lap. I fiddled with his shirt while I spoke to him and he caressed my back.

"I chose my weapon today." I said 

"What did you choose?" He asked.

"A garrote and daggers." I said. Suddenly his face looked solemn. 

"Kye chose a garrote well. Said he wanted to watch his enemies as their face paled due to lack of oxygen. He wanted to see as life left their eyes slowly. He said It was the best way to die." He stated.

"Good thing I'm about to fufil his dreams. Killing him by his choice of weapon would be ironic." I said. Ace looked at me with concern.

"Promise me something Freya." Ace said

"What?" I responded

"Promise me that your quest for revenge won't make you to become something that you're not." He said tracing his fingers on my lips. I gave him a tender kiss and pulled away. Placing my forehead on his.

"I promise." I said. 

"I have somewhere I need to be right now, but I'll come back early." I told him kissing his forehead

"Where?" He said.

"To see someone I've wanted to meet with since I found out the truth." I said 

I went to the gardens to see the Sage. I had summoned him because I wanted to know what my life was like back when I was a human. I wanted to know what my parents looked like. Did I look like my mother or my father? We're we happy? I just needed clarity. The Sage was already there when I arrived. He was standing with his back turned to me.

"Good day." I said, he turned to me with a straight face.

"Good day Luna" he responded. I sat down but he remained standing.

"We're you surprised by my summon?" I asked.

"Not at all." He said

"I know everything, I know what I was before I was brought here." I said

"I'm already aware of that." He responded. I looked at him a mix of shock but also without surprise. 

"I want my memories back. I want to know who I was before. Before all of this happened to me." I said

"I'm afraid I cannot grant you that wish, forgive me Luna." He said

"Why?" I responded a bit irritated.

"The process is overwhelming. If you spend too much time in your past you could get overwhelmed. It will be hard to bring you out."

"I can face the risks. I want them back." I said. The sage looked at me with a serious face.

"I just want to know. I trust you to bring me back if you notice any changes in my behaviour while I'm in that state." I said.

"Pls just grant me this one wish." I stated. The sage looked at me and nodded. 

"Come closer and sit on the grass." He said. I did just as he instructed. He asked me to close my eyes and I also did so. Soon the Sage placed his forefinger on my forehead and the other under my chin while he chanted something under his breath. After a while it felt like my soul had left my body. A flood of pictures were flowing through my brain. But I only concentrated on one. And it was that day, I just felt it. It was the day it all happened. The day my family was killed.

When I opened my eyes. I looked at my hands. They were on top of a bedside table. The place looked like a child's room. When I turned around. I saw a girl on the bed, she was sleeping peacefully. She looked just like me. 

"Annalyse." I heard a voice say. The woman entered inside the room. I thought she would see me but she merely passed me like I wasn't there. I realized that I was already Inside that memory. The woman was beautiful, her eyes were green, like the forest. Just like mine but hers were lighter. This must be my mother.

"Annalyse honey, wake up. Did you forget what day it was?" She asked with a smile on her face. The girl opened her eyes with a little yawn.

"Mama, good morning." She said with her small voice.

"Good morning my love, happy birthday to you darling." She said. The little girl hugged her mother tightly.

"Thank you mama." She said smiling. The woman held her hand and pulled her up.

"Come my love, your father made your favourite." she said.

"Is it deer meat?" She said excitedly. I let out a little laugh with tears building in my eyes. Even now I still loved deer meat.

"Yes, my darling." The woman responded. They both ran downstairs and I followed after them. I saw a man. He took the girl in his arms and spinned her around. They both laughed as he did so.

"Happy birthday my dear Annalyse" he said. 

"Are you ready for your birthday meal?" He said. The girl shook her head excitedly.

"It's only for today and because it's your birthday. No more meat in the mornings until the next." The man said teasingly. The little girl giggled.

"Yes Papa." She said. They all ate as I watched them. They looked happy. My family was happy. My name was Annalyse. Such a beautiful name. They laughed happily when they ate. Like they had no problems. I stayed watching them go about their activities for hours. My mother was a market trader while my father was a farmer. My mother would take me with her and I would play all day with the children in the area. 

It was nighttime when we returned. I walked along with my little self and my mother. We arrived at our cottage to see my dad already folding blankets with different food in the basket.

"Ready for our yearly tradition?" He said to the girl.

"Ready Papa." She said smiling. I knew where they we're headed to, it was the woods. 

"No, don't go." I tried saying but they couldn't hear me. I ran after them as they went their way, laughing. Not knowing what fate awaited them.

"Pls come back!" I yelled, crying but it was too late. I saw Kye. I watched as he tore my parents apart. As they tried to protect me but it was useless. I watched as I ran helplessly, as he scratched my back. I watched as I entered the ditch and suddenly I was pulled back to my body. My eyes opened, tears all over my face. I sobbed and I fell to the floor crying even more. The sage looked at me, with a mix of pity. I wouldn't know because the look was gone just as it came.

"I'll make sure he pays. He'll pay for it all. That monster." And with that I left the gardens. A decision in my heart. One I struggled to make, but one that was very necessary and crucial to my plans. 

I went up to the chambers to see Ace. I needed him to agree to my plan. He would find it difficult to do so but I've made up my mind and I don't think even he could change it.

I saw him laying down on the bed. He looked at me lovingly.

"Are you done with your meeting?" He asked.

"Yes." I responded. I sat beside him. He sat up and held my hand.

"How was it?" He stated.

"I saw my family. I look just like my mother. She was beautiful Ace. They loved me so much. My name was Annalyse." I said with a distant look on my face. Remembering how much my parents showed so much care for me.

"It was my birthday that day. I share the same birthday with that monster." I said disgusted. Ace took me into his arms. I couldn't help but cry again.

"He ruined everything." I said. I cried in his arms. The only silver lining in what Kye did was that I got to meet Ace, I got to know so many good people here and I ended up with a love I wouldn't trade for anything. But even with all of this, I would still have loved to be with my parents. To grow up with them. To feel their love and their warmth. To celebrate so many more birthdays with them, and now I could never have that back. I could never be with them again. I released myself slowly from Ace, ready to tell him my plans.

"I want to do something Ace. Something that would help us in our fight with Kye" I said. Ace looked at me intensely. 

"What would that be?" He asked 

"I want to go undercover, as one of the rogues. I'll infiltrate them and bring back information on how to destroy them" I said. Ace looked at me disbelief and disapproval in his eyes.

"That is not going to happen Freya." He said 

"Ace, it's a good plan. He doesn't know who I am. I could go there and pretend to be one of them. Gain Kye's trust and destroy them slowly from the inside. I know I can do it Ace" I said. Ace turned to me.

"Are you out of your mind Freya. I would never put you at such risk." He said with anger.

"We're already in danger Ace. I can handle myself. I promise you. I just need you to trust me." I said with desperation in my voice.

"Ace, listen to me. This will work, I promise I will come back to you. I want to do this for you, for this pack and most importantly for me." I said. Ace looked at me with pleading in his eyes. Like he was silently begging me to change my mind. But I would not.

"What if it doesn't work? I don't want to lose you Freya. I won't bear it if I do." He said touching my cheek.

"It will work, I swear it." I said confidently.

"Then we shall prepare you for the journey ahead." He said. I sighed with relief, hugging him tightly and whispering reassuredly.

"Don't worry about me Ace, I will be fine." I said

"I trust you." He whispered back to me.

The next morning, we went through all the plans with Devon and Yuri. Every three days, I would meet Devon in the location we would choose for ourselves. If I had information I would tell him. This would also enable him to check if I was doing well or not. If I was alive or dead. But I would make sure that none of that would happen. We informed the council of our plans. It was only the council, Ace, Yuri, Devon, Darren, Isabelle and Isis that knew about it.  I couldn't tell mother because I knew she would worry. Ace would make up an excuse for my absence. 

It was night already. The pack would be asleep by now. I got ready. Ace, Devon and Yuri led me to the gates. I gave Ace a passionate kiss and he held me tightly not wanting to let go.

"I'll come back to you, I promise." I said. My forehead close to him.

"You better." With that I left with Devon. 

 Ready to exact my revenge.
