BROWN & GREY: CHAPTER 2

BELLION POV πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

"Red or white?" Kayla asked.
"Kai doesn't like red, so I'll go with white." I said.
"But you love red". She said dejected.
"Tonight isn't about me, it's about Kai and what will make him want to marry me more." I said.

I have to be perfect. In dad's words if I'm not perfect then I'm not useful. All my life, all I've strived for was perfection, I wanted to be just like my father. He was perfection itself. I grew up with a single dad. My father was one of the most successful multimillionaires in the country. I've always done everything he wanted because when I did,  He'd smile at me and I loved that. I liked when he was happy with me. It was rare. So I cherished it.

Marrying Kai Young was one of my dad's biggest and most important task for me and I was not going to fail him. Kai is one of my father's biggest investors. In order to keep his investment in our company, he asked to marry me in return. I knew accepting his proposal would make dad happy and so I did it. Today was going to be our third date. The first two went well but he was a bit distant and he did most of the talking so I didn't have to say anything much. I liked it that way, at least that made him happy and if he was happy then things were going as planned.

"I don't like this Bellion, I don't like how you let your dad treat you. You're practically his puppet." She said frustrated.
"I'm not a puppet, he gave me a choice and I picked marrying him, it's not like he forced me." I said, my grey eyes glaring at her. How could she call me a puppet.

"You accepted because he gaslighted you into doing so, I was there, I saw everything. When are you ever going to stand up for yourself and say no to him. Heck you don't even love this guy." she said.
"Love does not matter, what matters is this merger. Now are you going to help me or not." I said already frustrated with her talking."

"I'll go make dinner, goodnight ma'am." She said and walked out. Suddenly I felt guilty, Kayla only calls me ma'am when she's upset with me. She and her mother have been working for us since I was a little girl, we practically grew up together. I consider her my bestfriend and the sister I never had rather than a maid. I resolved that I'll talk to her later. Right now I had a date to go for.

Kai could not pick me up so I took an uber instead, the drivers were on their day off except dad's personal driver who was obviously with him and also I couldn't drive as well so I had no options. I didn't hate it though, I loved being alone sometimes. I loved being independent. I arrived at the restaurant, it was sophisticated and quite elegant. I walked up to the receptionist and told her about the reservation, she kindly led me to our table. Kai wasn't here yet so I waited for him to arrive.

❤️❤️❤️

Two hours later and he still wasn't here, honestly it was frustrating. If he wasn't going to come he could've given me a call. I left there upset and dejected. As I stepped outside to call an uber, someone snatched my purse.

"Hey! Get back here you thief" I yelled. I pulled off my heels and ran after him. As I was running, I saw that a guy had already caught him. As I came closer I heard him speaking in a language I couldn't understand while hitting the theifs head and holding his collar.
"Onye oshi, nekaodi. Ewu". ( Thief, look at him. Goat). He uttered. The theif ran away, scared.

As he turned around my breath was snatched out of me. This guy was handsome and he was definitely not from here. He came close to me and said.
"I believe this is yours?"
But all I could look at was his eyes, the most captivating brown I'd ever seen.

To be continued.
